Are you dynamic, patient, adaptable and up for a challenge – if so, a job with Pegasus Playscheme could be just the thing for you!

We are once again employing staff for our summer playscheme – we will be looking to fill 3 group leader and 6 assistant leader positions. The dates for our scheme this year are to be announced very soon.

Working for Pegasus involves creating and planning a safe, stimulating and exciting programme of activities for children and young people with a variety of needs between the ages of 8 and 21.

The playscheme runs for approximately 3 weeks in the summer holidays and provides respite care to families who need it, whilst at the same time offering exceptional opportunities for young people to experience a range of new activities.

Staff are supported by an able crew of teenage volunteer helpers whose main role is to befriend and support the young people attending the scheme and work as a 1:1 buddy for them. Part of the role of the staff leaders involves not only managing the children and young people but also supporting these volunteer helpers and guiding them in their role.

Expectations of our staff are high and working requirements include:

adherence to Pegasus policies and procedures, organising and implementing a range of play and recreational activities, administering medical support and completing relevant paperwork managing a group budget and daily record keeping, to delegate responsibilities to other staff members and volunteers, ability to relate to parents and carers and provide daily feedback, to maintain overall accountability for the wellbeing and safety of the group.

Part of the uniqueness of Pegasus is the children and young people who attend the scheme and with that can come daily challenges and therefore staff need to be flexible, willing to adapt to change and ‘go with the flow’.

Staff must be aged 18 or over, posts are subject to DBS clearance and references. A qualification at NVQ Level 3 or above is required for a group leader position. First Aid qualifications and knowledge of child protection and safeguarding are also a preference although not essential training will be provided.

Wages are paid weekly and are subject to tax and national insurance. The wages are based off minimum wage and are to be discussed at interview

We are the ‘pop up playscheme’ with a big heart which makes a huge difference to a lot of people’s lives. If you think you would like to be a part
of this unique scheme, applications can be made by following the link below.
